Standing biofireplace

Ecological fireplaces have gained extraordinary popularity in recent years. They are an excellent alternative to classic wood-fired fireplaces. They are easy to use, do not stain and are completely safe. At the same time, they allow you to enjoy the view of dancing flames wherever you want.

In our offer you will find standing biofireplaces only from reputable brands - KAMI and INFIRE, which have many years of experience in the production of ecological heating.

Under the catalog of available products, you will find a handful of tips that will help you choose the best solution. She chooses her dream standing bio-fireplace with us!

How to choose a standing biofireplace for the home?

You can install a standing biofireplace in any room of your house or apartment. In stores specializing in the production of bio-fireplaces, you will find free-standing models, placed against the wall (so-called portal) and mounted in a wall recess.

Individual biofireplaces differ in design, so you can easily match the device to classic, rustic or modern interiors.

Depending on your preferences, you can choose a classic biofireplace in the shape of a cuboid or cone, but nothing prevents you from opting for a slightly more extravagant form resembling a bow or a harp. It is an excellent choice for loft interiors that combine classic stone and brick with modern metal structures.

The great advantage of ecological fireplaces is easy installation. The biofireplace does not have chimney flues, so you do not have to apply for any permits and have the installation inspected regularly. All you need to do is provide well-ventilated interiors.

Unlike a normal fireplace, which is basically only suitable for the living room, you can place a bio fireplace in the bathroom, kitchen or even bedroom and enjoy pleasant warmth on cool autumn and winter days.

What is a standing bio fireplace made of?

Each bio-fireplace consists of the same elements. They will be:

  • case,

  • cylinder or cover,

  • base,

  • hearth.

Biofireplace housing

The housing can be made of various types of materials. Most often you will meet metal biofireplaces, but stone, glass or MDF devices are becoming more and more popular. The raw material from which the fireplace casing was made largely translates into its weight.

While small glass models are so light that even a child can handle them, large stone structures are difficult to move (but very stable).

The casing never touches the hearth itself and is largely decorative. Many people even decide to use the services of craftsmen (e.g. metalworkers or sculptors) who can design a special-order stand bio fireplace.

Cover for a biofireplace

A cylinder or a bio-fireplace cover protect users against accidental contact with the flame. They also act as a shield to protect the fire from the effects of wind, if you plan to set up the firebox outdoors. The cover can be made of metal or milled glass, safe to touch.

Basis for a bio-fireplace

The base of a standing biofireplace is primarily intended to ensure the stability and safety of use of the equipment. Most often it has washers that protect the surface against accidental scratching that may occur when the structure is moved.

The base usually has a strong structure and is made of non-flammable materials.

The hearth of a biofireplace

The hearth of the biofireplace is made of stainless steel. Most models are equipped with a special, sliding hatch that allows you to smoothly adjust the size of the flame and, if necessary, quickly cut off the oxygen supply to the fuel. Some models (especially those intended for outdoor use) may have a special insert that prevents the biofuel from spilling out.

The absorbent raw material allows excess bioethanol to soak up instead of splashing on the terrace and then return to the bowl where it can be used again.

Support for a standing biofireplace

Most bio-fireplaces require manual operation, but some models work with wireless Bluetooth or infrared technology. This way, with the help of the remote control, you can use a few buttons to light the flame, change the burning intensity of the biofuel or put out the bio-fireplace.

What should a biofireplace for standing in the garden be like?

A standing biofireplace is a good choice both as an element of interior design and a supplement to a dream garden arrangement. With a little creativity, it will be a perfect complement to a gazebo or a quiet corner, where you can rest on a bench or deckchair with a book in hand.

When choosing a model for the garden, pay attention primarily to the dimensions and weight of the hearth. While in the case of models intended for interiors, it does not matter that much, garden fireplaces should be more stable. This is due to their exposure to the wind and the fact that they are often placed on a slightly undulating surface.

Massive biofireplaces with an unusual form, which will break the classic symmetry and views that you are used to on a daily basis, are especially good for decorating the garden.

How to power a standing biofireplace?

Each type of biofireplace is powered by biofuel. It is a special type of ethanol in the form of a gel or liquid that is obtained from plant crops. In Poland, these are most often potatoes or sugar beets. Good quality bioethanol should be completely odorless. The substance burns only into water and minimal amounts of carbon dioxide, therefore it is completely safe to use.

When choosing biofuel for a fireplace, pay special attention to the presence of the National Institute of Hygiene certificate issued by the National Institute of Public Health. This is a guarantee that the fuel has been tested for the absence of harmful substances.

How to identify low-quality, untreated biofuel? Its characteristic features are the smell of acetone floating in the air, smoke and sediment that arises during the combustion process. High-quality energy raw material should only leave a slight residue on the glass.

Remember to never use a fuel other than the one recommended by the manufacturer. Above all, watch out for crude oil, spirit, or denatured alcohol, which are not only extremely ineffective, but can even lead to an explosion.

Contrary to appearances, biofireplaces are perfect for heating interiors. One liter of fuel can burn from 2 to even 6 hours, depending on the heating power of the fireplace and the type of fuel used.

The energy efficiency of a biofire is usually between 2 and 3 kW. This amount of heat is comparable to the power of a room heater. Ordinary wood-fired fireplaces produce more heat (about 15-17 kW), but 3 kW is enough to heat about 30 m2 of closed space.

If you are looking for a standing biofireplace with this in mind to serve you in your garden, remember to choose a model with a fireplace with a slightly more power. You also have to reckon with the fact that the heat will dissipate faster and more easily.

A standing and hanging biofireplace, choose a solution that suits your needs

Many people wonder whether a standing bio fireplace or one of the hanging models will be a better solution. Each type of ecological hearth has its own application, so it's worth knowing what to look for when choosing.

Standing biofireplaces are certainly much more universal. Also, no special accessories are required for their assembly. They are easy to move to another place, and in the event of rainfall, hide inside. Nothing prevents you from using the same model all year round, only changing its position.

On the other hand, hanging bio-fireplaces tempt with an unusual form, e.g. a candle hanging in the air. The rope system, which is attached to the ceiling with special anchors, looks especially interesting. However, the installation of a hanging fireplace requires a bit of practice, because it must be perfectly stable. Otherwise it will be easy to set it in motion, which not only weakens the whole structure but also increases the risk of spilling the biofuel.

There may be a compromise between buying two devices. One model free-standing outside and the other hanging inside. In this way, you can easily move a standing biofireplace and heat two rooms at the same time.

If you are looking for a high-quality standing biofireplace, but you do not know how to find a device that will meet your expectations, call or write! Our specialists will be happy to advise you on your choice and will find a solution that you will be delighted with.
